Thank you for supporting National Needs

February 4-5, 2023: Instead of a second collection last weekend, a portion of our offertory was used to support the National Needs Combined Collection. Thanks to your generosity, we made a donation of $3,709.00 in support.

This combines four collections: [Spanish]

Catholic Campaign for Human Development

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development was mandated by the U.S. bishops to address the root causes of poverty in America through promotion and support of community-controlled, self-help organizations and transformative education. 25% of this collection stays in our diocese for local distribution; last year national grants were made to Birth Choice and our local Diocesan Restorative Justice ministries.

There is a comprehensive application process in place and no organization/group receives funds locally or nationally that takes positions contrary to Catholic teaching or participates in partisan political activity.

Catholic Communication Campaign

The essential mission of the CCC is to contribute to the process of evangelization by fostering activities in relation to television, radio and other media, and through special projects of the Catholic press.  An annual collection is taken up in the dioceses, which remit 50% of the funds collected to the National Office. From these funds, grants are made following recommendations by the USCCB Communication Committee.

The remaining portion of the collection is retained by the diocese for use in local communication projects.

Catholic University of America

This collection provides funding for academic scholarships at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in response to the commitment made by the bishops at its foundation in 1887. Catholic University is the only United States University with Pontifical faculties. Students are enrolled from all 50 states and almost 100 countries in 12 schools: Theology and Religious Studies, Philosophy, Law, Arts and Sciences, Social Service, Nursing, Engineering, Music, Architecture, Library and Information Sciences, Canon Law and Metropolitan College.

Catholic Home Missions

Nearly half of our country is considered home mission territory. This appeal helps our Catholic neighbors here in the United States who do not have access to basic pastoral services like Mass, the sacraments, and faith formation. Through your support, the Catholic Home Missions Appeal helps these mission dioceses form vibrant faith communities and strengthens the Church at home.
